About Us.
Red Hawk Catholic is more than just a student group, it's a place to grow.
But before we were Red Hawk Catholic, we were known simply as the “Newman Club.” It began in 1950, when a professor by the name of Bill Dioguardi invited a young priest, Fr. Thomas Davis, to speak to his class. Afterwards, the two of them had an impromptu meeting with the president at the time, Dr. E. DeAlton Partridge. Practically overnight, the first Newman Club was born. Since then, that “club” has grown into a vibrant center staffed by priests, missionaries, and lay leaders, serving generations of students.
Over the years, we've grown in influence and recognition. In 2008, we were promoted by the university from a Class III to a Class II organization, and by 2011, we were named "Organization of the Year" for our efforts. In 2012, we made history as the first religious group to become a Class I Organization.
Our story has taken many twists and turns, but one thing has never changed—prayer has always been at its heart. To this day, prayer remains at the center of all we do, and we continue striving to make Red Hawk Catholic a place where students can grow into all that God has created them to be.
