Fr. Jim Chern
Chaplain and Director
Fr. Jim Chern has been a priest in the Archdiocese of Newark since 1999.
He graduated with his master’s in theology from Seton Hall University. After his graduation he was assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes parish where he served as Parochial Vicar for 7 years.
In 2007 he was named director of the Newman Catholic Center at Montclair State University where he still serves.
In 2018 Fr. Jim was additionally named Archdiocesan Director of Campus Ministry by Cardinal Joseph Tobin.

Ricardo Casimiro
Campus Minister
Ricardo Casimiro is the Campus Minister at Montclair State University.
He is an enthusiastic and engaging speaker who lectures regularly about the message of Fatima.
He has produced many television productions, which explores the biblical foundation ofCatholic faith and Theology.
Ricardo has over twenty years of extensive leadership, ministry and teaching experience in the areas of catechetics and pastoral theology.

Mary Kominsky
Office Manager
Mary Kominsky has been the Office Manager at the Newman Catholic Center since 2007.
Mary has a love for working with college students and making sure the Newman Center feels like a home away from home for all. Mary has a degree in Catholic theology from Caldwell University. She has over 20 years’ experience teaching on life and women’s issues.
Mary is a New York Giants fan along with her husband Phil. A lifelong Jersey Girl, her happy place is being at the New Jersey Shore.

Michael Rivera
Music Director
Michael Rivera is the Music Minister and proud alumni of Newman Catholic. He is currently a Vocal Music Teacher, teaching Vocal Music to students from Kindergarten through Grade Six and is the director of the Elementary and High School Choirs. Michael is also an active church musician, having served in a variety of roles, including Director of Music. Michael graduated with a Master of Arts in Teaching with a Concentration in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Montclair State University. He is working towards a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
